Located in 107°15'03" - 107°29'30" East and 7°34’51" - 7°47'30" South, Sleman borders Boyolali to the north, Klaten to the east, Yogyakarta and Magelang to the south, and Kulonprogo, Magelang and Yogyakarta to the west.
Sleman covers and area roughly 574,82 Km2 which makes up 18% of the total Yogyakarta Special Region. The span from north to south is 32 Km, and west to east 35 Km. Sleman concist of 17 subdistrict, 86 village, and 1.212 hamlets.
Southern Sleman is relatively flat with some higland in Prambanan and Gamping subdistrict. North Sleman lies at the low range of mount Merapi with steep hills and has over 100 water spring. This area, together with south and west Sleman, is one of the main the breadbasket of Java.
Sleman has a wet tropical climate with monsoon between November-April and dry season between May-October. In year 2000 Sleman experienced 25 days of rain in March, normaly it is 20 days of rain in February
